About the Project

Zapin Padang Sari is not merely a dance; it is a conversation between the soul and the rhythm. Our project aims to meticulously document every nuance of this traditional art form, from the intricate 'bunga' (flower) footwork patterns to the specific melodic structures of the accompanying gambus and marwas ensemble.

Through high-definition video archiving and motion capture technology, we are creating a permanent digital library that allows future generations to study the precise movements that define the Padang Sari style. This initiative also involves documenting the traditional costumes, preserving the specific textile patterns and accessories that complete the visual poetry of the dance.
